Chocolate hazelnut spread

Fiona Staunton • Feb 03, 2020

This is a tasty healthy version of the popular nutella!

This is easy to make, really tasty and doesn't contain palm oil! You can initially increase the honey if people find it not sweet enough but I suggest you gradually reduce it again!

Ingredients:

240g hazelnuts
1/4 cup cacao powder
2Tbsp. honey
2Tbsp. Coconut oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch salt

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Place the hazelnuts on a tray in the oven for 12-15 mins, until golden and the skins have loosened. Place in a clean tea towel and rub together vigorously until the skins have loosened.
  3. Place the nuts, without the skins, in the food processor and blend, it will first go to a powder and then the oil will come out of the nuts and it will turn to a nut butter, add in all other ingredients, blend and enjoy.
Try it on a slice of crispy sourdough toast or on pancakes!
